Portrait - yourself, your family or pet

Portraits for individuals, groups and families

A good portrait is one that tells a story about the sitter. For instance, an Olympic medal rider would perhaps wish to include their horse. Or a businessman might wish to show his home or product. A family might wish to include grandparents, children and pets.

        How will we work together?

For portraiture, it is essential to understand both the personality of the client/clients, the purpose of the portrait – not just the face but what is to be portrayed about the personality/personalities, and to get an insight into the character of the sitter. (NB: This is not always advantageous - remember how Churchill’s portrait was burned by his wife!)

        How long does it take?

A portrait can in extreme cases, take a year to complete, dependant upon the artist getting the right look and story. A simple small family member or two might take only a month or less, but will need (if oils) to dry for 6 months before final varnishing.
