St Mark's stands silhouetted in the background whilst wealthy tourists take a ride on a gondola in the waterways of the ancient city of Venice, which is sinking into the sand over time. It is said that William Shakespeare got many of his plots adapting plots from Venice and Verona society. Hamlet is borrowed from an old Scandinavian tale, but Romeo and Juliet comes from an Italian writer writing at the same time as Shakespeare.
